1. What is the structure of the Trubi MELT Course?

The Trubi MELT Course is divided into three main components:

  • Theory Learning (Online): Delivered online through a self-paced Learning Management System (LMS), this portion focuses on foundational knowledge such as regulations, vehicle operation principles, and safety practices.
  • In-Yard Training: Hands-on training around the vehicle, focusing on pre-trip inspections, vehicle systems, and preparation for driving.
  • In-Cab Training Practical behind-the-wheel training, including on-road and off-road driving to develop essential driving skills.

2. How long is the Trubi MELT course?

The course consists of 103.5 hours, broken down as follows:

  • 36.5 hours of online theory learning.
  • 17 hours of in-yard training.
  • 50 hours of in-cab training (32 hours on-road and 18 hours off-road).

3. What are the technical requirements for the course?

Recommended Hardware:

  • A laptop or desktop with a minimum 2.4 GHz processor and at least 4 GB of RAM.
  • Speakers or headphones for audio output.
  • Webcam for virtual interactions.

  • Windows 7 or 10
  • Ubuntu Linux

4. How do I access the course?

Once you enroll, you will receive an email with instructions to access the LMS. You can create an account and log in using any compatible web browser to start the theory portion of the course.

5. Can I access the course material after completing it?

Yes, you will have access to the course material for a specified period after completion to review the content as needed.

7. How will I be assessed during the course?

  • Theory Component: Students must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the final knowledge test, with up to five attempts allowed. Failure to pass will require retaking the entire theory portion and paying the course fee again.
  • Practical Component: Instructors will assess your skills during in-yard and in-cab training. You must demonstrate proficiency in vehicle inspections, backing, coupling/uncoupling, and safe on-road driving. Additional training may be required if standards are not met.

8. Is this course recognized by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)?

Yes, the course content meets the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) requirements for MELT training.

9. Do I need my G licence to start this course?

Yes, all students must hold a valid G licence to enroll in the Trubi MELT Course.

10. What if I get locked out of the course?

11. Can I fast forward or skip any of the lessons?

No, you must complete each lesson in sequence. Fast-forwarding or skipping lessons is not permitted to ensure you fully engage with the material.

Yes, you are required to complete the online theory portion before proceeding to in-yard and in-cab training.
